June Favorites [Skincare/CC Cream, Nail Polishes, Brushes, etc.]

Today I share with you a skin/base-heavy favorites episode! I have especially been loving nail polish this last month, and these are just my top three picks. Now, I have not been testing the Kiehl's BB Cream for very long but it is more fluid and dewy in finish than the Smashbox CC Cream. I do plan to film a CC cream tutorial in a week, so please stay tuned! I know there aren't many Smashbox CC Creams on the web at the moment, which is why I'll be creating a complete tutorial to accompany the review. Thanks so much for your support.. have a wonderful weekend :)

  1. Hi Rae,
I've watched all of your videos from the very first one and I finally am up to date so feel like I'm able to comment on a current post!
I really love your videos, and they've influenced many of my recent purchases, so thank you for your expertise and advice.
I was wondering if you've ever tried Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre and what your thoughts are.
Thanks again for your hard work, and looking forward to your next video!

    1. Hi, Elly! Thanks so much for going out of your way to stay updated.. I really, really appreciate that! I've tried the Embroylisse but gave my bottle away because I wasn't in love with it. It's an effective (and more importantly, affordable) simple moisturizer. It's best on normal to very dry skin. I know some with oily skin use it, but I wouldn't recommend it under makeup if you have combo/oily skin!

  2. Hi Rae,

As horrible as dealing with acne is, I am just excited to hear about all the products that helped you the most so that I could try them out (darn acne!). Have you tried the DDF Acne Control Treatment with Salicylic Acid? It's the best thing that has worked for me in regards to spot treatments. Wanted to know your thoughts/experience with it =)

  3. Hi Rae,
I really love watching your videos! I was wondering if you think Jenu Ultrasound skincare system is worth the money. It is pretty expensive, but I really do love techy beauty products. :)
    Thanks!

  4. Thanks for comparing Smashbox's CC Cream vs. Chanel's CC Cream -- I've been debating over purchasing Chanel's CC Cream but wanted a cheaper alternative! I'm surprised that Chanel has not introduced additional shades yet. I tried Smashbox's BB Cream, but found it very oily/dewy, very heavy, and does not last after an hour or so. Smashbox's CC Cream is a lot lighter, and better than their BB Cream! Have you tried Dior's Nude BB Cream?

I have oily skin, thus have issues with a majority of liquid foundations. I have attempted to address this with many "transfer resistant" and "long-wear" foundations, and have found out that Smashbox's Photo Finish Foundation Light Primer and YSL's Teint Resist foundation have given the best results (the combination of this primer with foundation seems to give my oily skin a matte finish, yet not heavy like with Lancome's Teint Idole 24h foundation). Unfortunately, YSL's Teint Resist foundation is no longer available for purchase, and Lancome's Teint Idole 24h foundation does not compare (it is rather "thicker", has a heavier finish) -- any suggestions that may be similar? I've tried samples of Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation, but with Smashbox's primer as well as alone; the finish was "flaky". I have yet to try this foundation with Hourglass's primer -- what is your opinion on their primer? Additionally, I am a shade darker than you I believe: Smashbox's CC Cream I am a Light/Medium; MAC - NC35; Lancome (Teint Idole Ultra 24H) 320 Bisque W; YSL Teint Resist - 09 Honey; Benefit (Hello Flawless! Powder - All the World's My Stage Beige; Giorgio Armani (Maestro) - 6.5 & (Luminous Silk) - 5.75. Any recommendations for Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation shades?

Thanks for your reviews and recommendations! You are definitely a life saver! Growing up and living in a community/area devoid of racial/ethnic diversity has been stressful, especially with limited [shade] availabilities and correct knowledge of make-up application(s). Your vids are my go-to source for advice and have been really comforting!
