Lancôme Summer 2013 Color Design Palette in Aquatic Essence Review, Photos, Swatches

The Lancôme Color Design Palette in Aquatic Essence ($49.50 USD) is a quintessential selection of summer eyeshadows. The shades in this palette are vibrant yet wearable, and these six beauties create some of the most beautiful poolside looks. Aquatic Essence was launched several months ago but is officially sold out online. Call your local counters now to see if any are still in stock because this palette is positively worth the effort. Check out the swatches after the jump!

Lancôme Aquatic Essence is a shimmering, sparkling eyeshadow palette. It is definitely not for the timid or weak of heart, since all the colors are richly pigmented showstoppers. My personal favorite is the peach, since it is not too warm or too orange. It is still beautiful when worn on my lids with a bit of brown eyeliner. I also appreciate the slightly pink shimmer in the ivory highlighter color. The swatches below were taken under artificial lighting to highlight the magnificent shimmer.

The swatches directly above were taken in natural lighting, both shot directly in front of a window at different angles. The pigmentation is breathtaking.

I did hear of glitter fall out concerns regarding this palette, but there is only a touch of fall out with Kissed by Gold and Blue Teal. I simply tap off the excess powder off the bristles before applying to my eyes and had no trouble whatsoever. You can also try spritzing your brushes with a makeup mist or even try Too Faced's Glitter Glue eyeshadow primer, but again, I did not have any issues with fall out.

Below in the portrait photo, I wore Canary Chic in the inner corners. I lined my lower lash line with Vert Tendresse and added a hint of Blue Teal at the outer corner for some definition and smokiness. Bronze Amour was applied all over the upper lid, and a pencil brush was used to set down and wing out Kissed by Gold in the crease. The look was paired with my favorite Rouge in Love, Corail in Love. You will be able to see this makeup in motion in tomorrow's video, the Kiehl's BB Cream Review!

My most-used shades, however, are Vert Tendresse and Kissed by Gold. I have a weakness for teals and mints. Kissed by Gold has the softest, least shimmery texture. It is an ultra fine, smooth-as-butter eyeshadow.

Bottom Line: I absolutely love this palette and recommend that you track this palette down at a Lancôme counter immediately!

  6. This is absolutely beautiful! I'm pretty sure I have similar colors for all of these, but it looks so pretty together I'm tempted to buy the whole palette!
