Cle de Peau Luminizing Face Enhancers in 11 Pastel, 12 Gold, 13 Sand Beige + 14 Delicate Pink Reviews, Photos, Swatches

My #1 makeup obsession this year has been the Cle de Peau Luminizing Face Enhancer. I was hooked since the first application and I have since used and featured 13 Sand Beige in multiple tutorials (here and here). All four are beautiful, but I have discussed 13 most since it blends so seamlessly with bronzer. Today, however, I will share the other three shades available. Check out shade break downs and swatches of all four Luminizing Face Enhancers after the jump!

I love the Cle de Peau Luminizing Face Enhancers ($95 USD for refill + case) not simply for the exquisite light-reflecting, multi-faceted champagne gold compact designed by UK jewelry designer Shaun Leane or the multi-colored and embossed powder, but for the ultra finely milled shimmer that provides a lit-from-within glow. The powder's soft and velvety base blends onto the skin with just the right amount of translucency. Best of all, the Luminizing Face Enhancers do not accentuate pores whatsoever. My complexion appears more even-toned and my cheeks more smooth and plump, which is why I am so addicted! The powder claims to use an innovative light-diffusing technology to achieve this complexion magic, but the only thing you need to know is that the Luminizing Face Enhancers are the best highlighters that money can buy.

A little goes a long way, so each pan should last me a year even with daily use. I dust on a swipe or two per cheekbone, down the nose bridge, above the cupid's bow and occasionally under the eyebrow arches with my SUQQU Cheek Brush or Wayne Goss 02, though the synthetic one included with the CdP compact would suffice for touch-ups. I cannot stop raving about the healthy, dewy and believable glow these highlighters give my skin, especially since they do not accentuate the larger pores near my nose. You will never look oily, sweaty or greasy with CdP (when applied properly).
I love these so much that my makeup no longer feels or looks complete without my Luminizers! Many seem to prefer cream highlighters since they usually adhere to the skin more naturally, but Cle de Peau has produced the most exceptional powder highlighters ever made. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders will accentuate pores or textural imperfections a bit more, and NARS' Albatross (golden sheen similar to CdP 12) has much larger, chunkier glitter than in any of the CdP highlighters.

13 Sand Beige is not nearly as dark as it looks in the pan. I assumed it would wear like a bronzer, but with one swipe, I discovered that was not the case whatsoever. It does deposit more color on the skin that the other Luminizing Face Enhancers, but 13 Sand Beige matches my light-medium skin tone perfectly. It translates as a peachy-champagne highlighter with a hint of bronzy gold, which is absolutely perfect for summer and pairing with your favorite bronzer. For reference I use Chanel 20 in foundations, so those who wear my shade and darker will find that Sand Beige is a very natural, flattering warm highlighter that can be worn with bronzer.

13 Sand Beige is most similar in color to the golden-beige Chanel Dentelle Precieuse Lace Highlighter (though more peachy-pink), which was available exclusively at Nordstrom in celebration of the Anniversary Sale. Now, the lace embossment definitely gives it collector status, and it is undoubtedly one of the best highlighters Chanel has released in the last few years. Unless you are a die-hard Chanel fan, however, I would still recommend spending the additional $15 and splurging on performance with Cle de Peau's LFE.

14 Delicate Pink, the latest addition to the lineup, is a medley of pretty pink, ivory-beige, and pure white. This color combination delivers stunning clarity and radiance, so I prefer to use this one when I prefer a brighter look to the complexion. I usually reach for this on days when I am not wearing bronzer. The white in the color way livens up my entire face, and of the four options available, I believe 14 will look the most universally flattering across all skin tones.

If, however, you have ruddy cheeks, stick to 12 Gold and take advantage of the neutralizing properties of the ivory, yellow and gold tones. There's also a hint of seashell pink in the shimmer, which adds balance and prevents the highlighter from making yellow complexions like mine appear sallow. For those curious, 12 is indeed lighter and more traditionally golden as opposed to 13. If you missed out on the limited edition Summer 2014 Dior Transat Nude Tan highlighter, try 12 Gold! On my light-medium skin tone, it is ultra natural.
The Cle de Peau Lumizing Face Enhancer in 11 Pastel is a combination of cream, pink, sky blue and lavender — ideal for very fair to light skin. Many highlighters tend to run too warm and too deep for those with alabaster skin, but this is the most sophisticated, pale-cool highlighter that's permanently available! I prefer to use this one for evenings out since it looks more dramatic and glamorous on my skin's warmer coloring.

Many of you have requested this, so here is my order of my preference: 14 DELICATE PINK (best for all-year round wear), 13 SAND BEIGE (best for the summer season), 11 PASTEL (traditional cool white highlighter), 12 GOLD (ideal for medium to dark skin tones). I may reach for 14 and 13 most because they suit my complexion and preferences best, but all four shades are worth owning — especially if you work weddings. Also note that all the Luminizing Face Enhancers come with a glitter overspray, so I highly recommend brushing it away to experience the true beauty of the highlighters! Lastly, keep in mind that the heavy swatches are meant to assist you in selecting an undertone. Do not judge them until you see them applied to the face! You can refer to my videos to see them in action on my face.

WEARING 13: PEACH-BRONZE
WEARING 14: SEASHELL-PINK [brighter]
Even if you have to forgo the $40 case, at least try the product refill alone ($55 USD). These Luminizing Face Enhancers have changed the way I view highlighters and now I cannot live without them! The powders meld onto the skin in a way no other powder can and really perk up my skin. You can find Cle de Peau at select Nordstrom counters, Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman as well as Barney's.

Bottom Line: The Cle de Peau Lumizing Face Enhancers are my holy grail highlighters because of their impeccably smooth textures and the 'lit-from-within' glowing effect!

  3. Thank you for the swatches. Very helpful as I do not have a CdP counter near me. I couldn't decide between 13 and 14, but I'm leaning towards #14 for my first purchase. Thanks again!

    1. You're very welcome! I think most women will prefer 14 as the first purchase. You'll get hooked and need 13 next :)

  4. What a great post featuring one of my all time favorite products. I particularly like your swatches. When I tell people I have all four powders, sometimes the reaction is, "Why do you need so many highlighters? Aren't they the same?" No, they're not and your swatches clearly show that each powder is unique. They are so versatile and can be used in so many ways, that it is definitely worth having all of them.

  6. Rae, you absolutely kill me with your photos of these. I've wanted Pastel for the longest time, but I just can't justify buying it AND the compact when I already have so many finely-milled highlighters that I love -- and I couldn't possibly buy the refill without the compact. (But oh, those tones, and that case! *fans self*)

    1. I wish my photos did them justice! The compacts catch so much light. Mesmerizing, I tell ya! I am still trying to find my photography groove in my new place, so I feel like all my photos recently look subpar, very sad :( I always used to buy highlighters for their limited edition status, but these CdP highlighters are the few I absolutely LOVE! I think you need to bite the bullet.. you won't regret it!

  8. Rae, I am dying over your swatches and I keep thinking about these because you always talk about your love of them and your skin is always GLOWING!! My concern is color--I am very fair (the lightest shade in just about any foundation, including my current one, 01 in Parure de Lumière by Guerlain) and cool-toned. I worry that Delicate Pink would show up as pink on me, but then I worry that the Pastel offering wouldn't do much for me (I don't like highlighters that are TOO subtle, haha). For reference, I've been using Kevyn Aucoin's Candlelight and Estée Lauder's Heatwave with success for a while. These just look so awesome! If you have any advice, I'd really appreciate it!

    1. I would recommend Pastel if you are very fair. Rest assured, it has just as much impact as any of the others! It's also different enough from the warmth of Candlelight and champagne-copper tones in EL's Heatwave to justify the purchase.. just keep in mind those are intense and metallic compared to the Cle de Peau's lit-from-within finish!

  9. Those pictures are amazing! Have you tried the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette? I am debating either the Cle de Peau highlighter or the Filmstar palette. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  10. Thank you so much for the detailed review! I'd love to buy one but we don't have CdP counters here :( Chanel BB cream#20 or their water base foundation #30 is the perfect shade for me. I was wondering whether you could advise me which shade I should go for. I would like to use it day and night for a natural glow. Thank you very much for your time and your recommendation will be greatly appreciated!
