SK-II Facial Treatment Oil Review, Photos

Since my trip to S. Korea a couple months ago, I have been testing SK-II's brand new Facial Treatment Oil. This dry skin elixir is a dual phase formula that combines pitera with oil to deeply moisturize and treat the skin. It's one of the most interesting skin care products to have been introduced to the market this year, and I am reaching for it more often as the weather gets colder!

SK-II claims that "the Facial Treatment Oil targets and nurses dry skin and imperfections caused by harsh winter conditions by combining its signature ingredient, Pitera, and the new Nourishing Oils Complex containing 6 types of oils — incl. naturally-derived Mediterranean olive oil, Latin American jojoba oil, South African avocado oil, Japanese Riceterol Ester and rice bran oil, and squalane — mixed in a perfect Golden Radio... The nourishing properties of SK-II's facial oil also protect dry skin caused by environmental stressors; including pollution, pollen, and UV rays."

What I love most about this oil is the uplifting yet calming fragrance. The subtle citrus scent with soothing lavender helps me feel relaxed, especially when I use it to massage my hands. Although it hasn't unseated my holy grail Sunday Riley Luna Oil, this new SK-II dual phase oil does not feel as heavy as other hydrating oils. When shaken, it transforms into a milky fluid moisturizer (see demo photo below) that relieves dull and dehydrated skin. No pimples, no clogged pores!

Although I normally use it at night after (1) cleanser (2) toner (3) essence, it is a lifesaver on while traveling via airplane!! That's probably my favorite time to use it. I'll start by washing my face in the bathroom and slapping on a sheet mask for fifteen minutes. Then I thoroughly shake up the SK-II oil and apply a generous amount to my face, neck, and hands. I recommend reapplying the oil every two to three hours if you have very dry to normal skin.

The Facial Treatment Oil is scheduled to be available at all SK-II counters from January 1st 2016 onwards! Ask your local department store Sales Associates for more information regarding launch dates.

  1. Jojoba is hit of miss for me, sometimes it's ok and other times it's a massive breakout! I'd have to sample it for sure!

  2. Ahhh I'm a sucker for a luxe dry oil. Is SKII big in Korea even though it's Japanese?
