YSL Pop Water Collection Glossy Stains + Nail Lacquers Review, Photos, and Swatches

As some of you may have seen on social media, Nordstrom has an exciting new exclusive collection by YSL Beauty! These new third generation Pop Water Glossy Stains are some of the best lip glosses I have worn in the last couple years. Many of you know that I am a Glossy Stain and moreover, lip gloss addict, so I knew this Nordstrom exclusive Pop Water collection would be right up my alley. All details and swatches after the jump!

Let's begin with the Pop Water in 200 Plump Up ($36), which is one of the gentlest lip plumpers I have ever tried. I was concerned that the higher shimmer content would irritate my highly sensitive lips, but the formula is both invigorating and hydrating! You will not experience any heat or tingling or irritation, just a slow and steady plumping of your lips. YSL recommends that you wear it alone or layered over another lip color. I personally tend to wear it alone on no makeup days because it is so low maintenance and contains hyaluronic acid! This applicator does seem to release less product per swipe than the other Pop Water Glossy Stains, but I don't mind taking the extra 30 seconds to layer this on. The packaging is so comfortable, convenient, and chic!

Now let's discuss the six colorful Pop Water Glossy Stains ($36 each) that came home with me. I did not expect to love 201 Dewy Red or 202 Rouge Splash, but 201 leans very pink and 202 leans more red than orange — exactly how I like my reds. In fact, they are my favorite because they layer beautifully for ultra saturated color. 203 Eau de Corail should be the universal favorite for Spring since it is soft and subtle yet adds just enough color for both day and night. 206 Misty Pink is a statement pink, but it's not overly bold or obnoxious. It brightens up my face and looks so pretty when worn with a minimal eye. 208 Wet Nude is not as nude/camel/brown as I had anticipated. It actually translates to a pale peach with a hint of nude, so I personally love this most for day time. Wet Nude does not wash out my complexion, and it also looks fabulous when paired with a smoky eye. These glosses are fairly pricy, but they're totally shimmer-free and hold up well during travel. I am truly head over heels for them, so I highly recommend you stop by a YSL counter at Nordstrom to see them for yourself.

100% bare skin, no smoothing/altering

The Pop Water Glossy Stains swatch sheerer than how they appear on the lips, so I figured arm and lip swatches would be appreciated! Just like the traditional Glossy Stains, these Pop Water Glossy Stains are offered in a variety of vibrant colors with a long-lasting formula that does become thicker in consistency after a few minutes. The Glossy Stains are liquid lipstick/gloss hybrids and the pigmentation is more opaque, but the Pop Water renditions are slightly more translucent and extra glossy in finish. I also find them less tacky on the lips. The colors are definitely buildable in intensity, hence totally wearable. I also love the richness and density of the original Glossy Stains, but these Pop Water Glossy Stains are lovely for Spring and Summer! I plan to go back and try the other 3 shades!

Even the Pop Water Nail Lacquers ($27 each) have a plush gel finish that is perfect for the warmer Spring weather we are experiencing in Southern California. I can imagine these would be a hit amongst festival attendees and beach bums. They have such a casual yet polished look due to the semi-translucent pigment. Pictured here are three coats of each shade, 63 Rouge Wet and 64 Fuchsia Rain, on bare nails (no base or top coats). I adore Rouge Wet, which is much brighter and far rosier than the name 'rouge' implies. Fuchsia Rain is more subdued and natural. This nail polish formula dries down faster than most in my collection and feels intensely nourishing on my very dry, brittle nails. I can't wait for Nordstrom to get 65 Rose Splash as well as the Pop Water Full Metal Liquid Eyeshadows in stock next week!

Bottom Line: This flawless YSL Pop Water Collection was tailor made for
gloss lovers and the Spring/Summer season! So unique and flattering xo
