UPDATE: Top 5 Foundations Review + More Recommendations by Skin Type

It has been over a year since my last Top 5 Foundations Review, so I figured it was time for an update! I received plenty of requests in the past couple months, but I held off on filming until I had tested as many Fall 2014 foundations releases as possible. The five foundations featured in this episode are all ideal options for normal to dry skin, as that is my current skin situation, but combination skin types that enjoy a luminous complexion should try them as well. Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation: This dewy elixir is best applied with a BeautyBlender sponge, but I generally use my fingertips more often to build coverage efficiently. It covers my redness and broken capillaries yet maintains a super natural, almost bare-faced look. Expect sheer to light-medium coverage with a perfectly balanced dewy finish. Setting with a powder is mandatory for all-day wear.

Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation: I find this silky, light to medium coverage foundation is best applied with the fingertips. The Moisture Foundation has the most accurate, true-to-life, "real skin" effect. It is ideal for HD video work, and I recommend setting with a powder foundation (like the KGD Triple Lighting) for those with problematic skin that requires more coverage.

By Terry Cover Expert: This modern demi-matte, medium coverage foundation is best applied with the fingertips. The Cover Expert glides on and plumps up the skin while smoothing it. I love the hint of powder in the finish, and it looks so beautiful in photos because it stays matte in all the right places without drying out the skin. No old-school, flat-matte skin here! Combination skin should definitely try this one. Normal to dry skin can skip the setting powder. 

Sisley Phyto-Teint Expert: I absolutely love this foundation when paired with the Eve Lom Daily Protection SPF50 sunscreen as a primer. Together, they create the most beautiful, glowing complexion possible (see it in action HERE) that people can't stop asking about. Apply both with the fingertips. The Sisley is my favorite serum/skincare foundation because it performs best on my normal to dry skin. It provides medium coverage with a semi-matte finish, which will warm up to a more radiant look as the day moves on. Additional details in can be found in my review.

Cle de Peau Cream Foundation SPF29: This dense, full coverage formula is best applied with the fingertips or a BeautyBlender sponge. Since it does have a matte finish, I recommend using the BeautyBlender when looking to achieve a more natural, luminous effect. The Silk Cream foundation does not flash back in photos and will provide full coverage without looking heavy or cakey. If you have dry skin, try the Silky Cream instead.
