Le Métier de Beauté launched a new collection of lipsticks last season, and I will share seven of the sixteen available shades today. These Hydra-Crème Lipsticks ($25 USD each) were created to deliver long-wearing, brilliant color in cult classic shades as well as trendy hues. The emollient, hydrating formula is excellent for those with dry lips. I was taken aback at how much I love some of the shades, since I usually prefer Le Metier de Beaute's Lip Cremès! Check out all the lip swatches after the jump!
L to R: Cashmere & Sahara
L toR: Cashmere, Botticelli Angel, Sahara
SAHARA is a fabulous terracotta nude. It has more red in the base than does Cashmere, so it looks very natural when I am wearing minimal makeup. BOTTICELLI ANGEL is a peach-rose, which will look fabulous on light to fair skin tones. This particular shade blends in most with my lips. BUTTERFIELD 8 is a peachy orange with a slightly frosty champagne finish that's ideal with a summer tan. I prefer to wear this one sheer, a swipe or two at most. I find that this shade photographs so much better than it looks in person!
L to R: Butterfield 8 and Botticelli Angel
MARASCHINO was love at first swipe. It is the most emollient of the seven featured today, and it glides on like a satin robe. More impressive is that this intensely pigmented shade doesn't feather! Maraschino is my favorite pink-red of the moment. As much as I love the shimmery pink-red goodness that is Tom Ford's Vampire Kiss lipstick, I think Maraschino is more flattering on my complexion since the shimmers are more subtle. It brightens up my entire complexion and makes my teeth look whiter. Maraschino may very well become my favorite red!
L to R: Rose Garnet & Tea Rose
TEA ROSE is a sheer raspberry pink with lots of silver microshimmer. ROSE GARNET, in comparison, has more buildable semi-translucent coverage. It is a brighter rose-red with fewer shimmers, but it also has a slightly frosty finish. They look nearly identical in swatches, but I wear Tea Rose on natural makeup days and opt for Rose Garnet when I want more color.
Bottom Line: I would like to explore more of this luxurious yet affordable Hydra-Crème range, but for now, I highly recommend Cashmere and Maraschino because they are hydrating, phenomenal basics!
