Tom Ford Cheek Color in Love Lust (01) Review, Photos, Swatches

Tom Ford's Cheek Color in Love Lust ($56 USD) is a warm coral with noticeably fine, even shimmer. It wears more like a peach-tangerine, and the hint of pink that is detectable in the pan is perhaps even more subtle on my face. Flattering and wearable peach blushes are difficult to come by since they inevitably lean too far orange or too far brown, so Love Lust is definitely worth taking a look at. Check out swatches after the jump!

The texture of Tom Ford's Cheek Colors is consistently creamy and buildable in color. The application is always effortless since so little product is required for evenly applied color. I prefer to wear my blush on the sides of my cheeks and blend up towards the temples instead of adhering to the traditional placement — directly on the apples of the cheeks — which prevents the frosty nature of this formula from accentuating larger pores.

Some have asked if Love Lust is similar at all to NARS Orgasm, which is not an accurate comparison at all. Orgasm wears distinctly more pink on my skin (as does NARS Deep Throat). Benefit's CORALista is likely the best permanent "dupe" for Love Lust, though CORALista is still more pink and more sheer. Furthermore, Love Lust's shimmer content is a refined duo of golden and peach shimmer which makes it lean more peach on the skin. I had anticipated that Love Lust would be brighter, like Flush, so I was pleasantly surprised by its more delicate color.

Love Lust and a few other Cheek Colors are swatched fairly heavily below. Love Lust may look more pink on my arm, but it oxidizes to a warm tangerine-peach on my face (more true to the color in the pan).

Frantic Pink [reviewed HERE] is a cooler baby pink with silver shimmer. It oxidizes on my skin quickly and does not look quite as pale after an hour, but Love Lust wears more obviously peach-orange on my light-medium skin. Even though I was not in head over heels for Flush when I first purchased it a few years ago, I absolutely love how unique the bright watermelon shade is now. I have come to the conclusion that a fluffy, dense brush like the Tom Ford Cheek Brush [reviewed HERE] or a flat top like Lancôme's Precision Cheek Brush work best to diffuse the shimmer for a less frosty look. Still, I recommend a light hand with the Tom Ford Cheek Colors since all of them are well pigmented.

Tom Ford's Love Lust and other Cheek Colors can be found at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom, and Selfridges.

Bottom Line: I prefer the cooler Frantic Pink to Love Lust, but Love Lust is positively my favorite shimmery peach blush!

  5. Love Lust is my one and only coral blusher now that most of the hair framing my face has turned to silver. (Don't ask how many pink and rose blushers I have, though. I've lost count!) It combines with the natural rosiness of my cheeks to produce a warm flush that is perfect for summer or early autumn. I've been extremely pleased with all my TF blushers. The colors are saturated and true to pan, they wear exceedingly well, they blend smoothly, and they create a soft glow on the cheeks. What's not to love? Because the colors are so rich, I use a fan brush to apply them. On my light complexion, less is more.

  6. Rae, I know how much you love Tom Ford. If you can recommend just one item from TF(or top three), what would you pick? I am asking this because I want to get an eye liner, some of blushes and brushes, bronzing power and I cannot have it all. :)

    1. My top 3 at the moment are the dual-ended eyeliner, matte bronzer, and blush in Wicked or Love Lust! I would recommend trying his lipstick in Crimson Noir, but it sounds like you're more interested in powders :)
