Shu Uemura x The RAEviewer Collaboration: Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches, and Tutorial

After weeks of working quietly but diligently with Shu Uemura on this collaboration, the exclusive eyeshadow palette I created has finally launched and is now available for sale. Please check out the swatches and shade breakdowns after the jump!

This project is a dream come true, and I cannot thank the Shu Uemura team and Sophie enough for this opportunity. I chose to focus on highlighting texture using a couple bronze-toned eyeshadows, which is an integral part of my signature eye look. All four of the eyeshadows in my palette are highly pigmented and truly best in class, so velvety smooth and easy to apply. If you like what you see, please feel free to use the promotional code SHUXRAE to receive a free eyeshadow quad case and a deluxe cleansing oil at checkout!

Shu Uemura x The RAEviewer Iconic Eye Shadow Custom Palette:
P Light Beige 812 Pearl Neutral Beige
ME Medium Brown 862 Metallic Bronze
P Dark Brown 861 Pearl Earth Brown
M Dark Brown 896 Matte Brown

My favorite shade in the palette is ME Medium Brown 862 Metallic Bronze, which is my very first 'metallic' Shu Uemura eyeshadow. I love how the shimmer sparkles, but it is not a chunky glitter particle. It actually reminds me of a more neutral and less glittery version of the copper glitter in Tom Ford's Cognac Sable quad [check out the comparison swatches HERE.] There is little to no fall out with this bright copper-brown! Next, I was taken aback at how pigmented P Light Beige 821 Pearl Neutral Beige was, considering it is a pale eyeshadow color. I plan to try wearing this one all over the lid in a cut crease look sometime, and the 'pearl' finish is just marvelous.. the epitome of buttery smooth.
The other 'pearl' eyeshadow is P Dark Brown 861 Earth Brown, which is one of the most exceptional brown-bronze eyeshadows I have ever had the pleasure of using. I applied it sparingly in the tutorial video below, but it has the richest and most even pigmentation of the bunch. In comparison to 862, P Dark Brown 861 is softer and more refined in texture, while the color is distinctly golden-brown as opposed to 862's red-copper tones. The last shade, 896 Dark Brown, is a true 'matte' eyeshadow. This particular shade is not as creamy as the rest, but the pigmentation is undeniably good and it is easily buildable with either the fingertips or a flat shader brush. I recommend using a patting motion instead of a wiping motion for best results.

Bottom Line: This is the perfect wearable bronze eye palette for me, and I hope it will be for you, too!

Use promo code SHUXRAE to receive a Quad Custom Case (retails for $14 USD) and a deluxe cleansing oil sample for FREE at checkout! The palette will only be available for one month, so take advantage of the code while you can.

  2. Rae, can you please do a side by side swatch comparison of your Shu quad vs. the Tom Ford one? I am really excited because I love Shu stuff and I think this would be a great alternative to the Tom Ford cognac sable quad that you love so much.

  8. Hi Rae! I think it would be super helpful if you could post photos of the finished look on your website. I try to pause the video just as you're blinking (hahaa) so I can see what the finished look is supposed to look like, but I can rarely get a clear shot. Everything you do is so wonderful, I don't mean to sound like I'm criticizing in any way, but it would be really helpful when I try this at home! :)
