Chanel Perfection v. Pro Lumiere Foundation + US v. Euro Foundation Brush Review & Comparison

Chanel Perfection Lumiere: My combination skin's new favorite daily foundation! Yes, I think it's even better than Vitalumiere Aqua, which oily skins may have better luck with. It wears well, just like VA but it's a lighter veil of coverage [due to the powdery finish] and 40 Beige in Perfection Lumiere is a better match for me than are B30 or B40 in VA. There are 20 shades in this new foundation so fair maidens and deep goddesses - check out the incredibly accurate swatches on Cafe Makeup HERE!
P.S. I forgot to mention the scent of Perfection Lumiere in the video! My weak nose finds it to be a relatively strong fresh rose and baby powder scent but it is it is much more noticeable than any of the fragrances in other Chanel foundations. Sensitive noses beware! If you like scented foundations like the YSL line-up, you will most likely love this scent, too!

Chanel Pro Lumiere: The older version, now officially phased-out. Keep in mind that the names are similar but it's a completely different foundation! Pro Lumiere is a thicker/heavier, slightly longer lasting foundation than is Perfection Lumiere and is best for normal to slightly dry skins. I loved using it in the winters when my combination skin tends to be on the drier side.

  1. Yay I love your thorough reviews! I am always curious about Chanel and what might be good to try, although I have always been a Guerlain girl!

PS: When there's an 'e' afterwards you do pronounce the 'r' in French. If you type "lumiere" into Google Translate and push the little speaker button in the bottom right corner of the text box you can hear how it's pronounced ("loo-mee-air"). Hope that helps!

  2. Are you saying that Perfection Lumiere is a "a lighter veil of coverage" or were you referring to VA?

I have combination skin and like VA but find it a tad too pale (BR10) and the next shade too dark. I prefer a liquid but the Teinte Innocence cream compact gives me the color and coverage I like. Would the Perfection Lumiere give me that depth of coverage and be better for a combination skin girl?

  3. Elana - I should have known that, silly me! Thank you very much <3

Suselew - Perfection Lumiere feels lighter on my combination skin because it dries down to a very light powdery finish. I find that VA, on initial contact with my skin, is actually more more moisturizing than PL. I LOVE the Teint Innocence cream compact, which has more slightly coverage than the PL. If the TICP works for you, I say you stick with it!

Cotton Candy - Thank you! :)

  5. I know you dont say anything about primer in your video, so i just wanted to make sure if you just simply use your reg. serum and mosturizer under this foundation or wear a primer. Also, you mentioned the Chanel pressed powder, do you think the Chanel loose powder would work with this? Thank you!!

  6. Jamilla - Anyone with dry skin can use Lift Lumiere! I just wanted to mention it's meant for a more mature skin because it helps pump up lines ;)

Biquis1 - No, I rarely ever use primer anymore because my Visionnaire serum and La Mer SPF fluid both double up as primers! I do love the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer, though. And I am not a fan of the Chanel pressed translucent, as it tends to cake initially. The translucent loose powder is better!

  7. Thank you so much for this review! Is Perfection Lumiere non-comedogenic? Would you personally recommend this for acne-prone skin?

  8. It's oil free but not necessarily non-comedogenic.. it doesn't state that on the box or label :/ I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily and Chanel foundations have always been kind to my skin but I am not acne-prone, just sensitive, but I still say it's worth a gamble! Pick up a sample and try a patch test on your jaw line :)

I just wonder since i'm also Asian and i dont have perfect skin but i do have some breakouts on my cheeks and nose(sometimes) and some red dots on my cheeks from my former small pimples lollll....which they tend to stay there for so long = =..... I want to know if this foundation will clog up my skin ?? Too bad Thailand doesn't have Chanel foundation's samples AT ALL ....dont wanna risk =((

  12. Hi, Would you say that the La Mer Powder in Beige is dark? I can't decide if color wise, if creme or beige would be better? I am currently using Chanel's loose powder in N30. The color isn't too dark nor light, and just sets my foundation nicely, but i've been wanting to try La Mer for months now, but the store that sells it is way too far from me, so my only option is to purchase online.

  13. Ahwish - At the time I filmed the video, I was NC35. Now I'm a little lighter than NC30!

PoisonIvy- I personally haven't experienced clogged pores with this foundation.

Cathy - LS is much better for dry skin! Perfection is best for slightly dry to normal :)

Laura - No, it's not dark at all. It's still nearly translucent but has a slight beige tint, hence the name. Do you have pink or yellow undertones? Beige is best for those with yellow tones, Cream for pink :)
