Tom Ford Fall 2014 Collection + NEW Foundation Review, Photos, Swatches

Tom Ford's Fall 2014 beauty collection is the epitome of Ready-To-Wear. The new eyeshadow palette, blush duos, and lipsticks create polished and chic looks for day or night. Nude Dip, unfortunately, is already sold out at every retailer, so we will focus on the cheek duos and lipsticks today. Check out swatches of all the products after the jump!

The new Lip Colors are my favorite. The coral is actually much brighter on my lips than in the tube, as evidenced by my live swatch in the tutorial video. I knew Twist of Fate would flatter my skin tone, but I did not expect to fall head over heels for Negligee. I personally think they look best worn layered, as I demonstrated, but Negligee is right on trend for Fall! It has a mauve base, making it a sweet and ladylike rendition of the signature 1990s R&B lip look. When swatched beside Twist of Fate, it looks more wine-colored, but you can see a more accurate swatch of Negligee HERE. Twist of Fate appears orange-red below, but it wears as a terracotta coral on my lips — a great balance of orange, brown, and coral.

Now, let's discuss the sold out Nude Dip Eye Color Quad. It has the same smooth metallic finish as Enchanted and Emerald Lust from Fall 2012. The colors are somewhat reminiscent of Enchanted in that they are neutrals, but Nude Dip has — true to its name — more nude and less plum. The ivory highlight and peach shadows are truly brightening, while the silky platinum taupe adds contrast. Pack on the brown in your creases and outer V of the eyes for a smoky effect. The minimal fall out and ultra buttery eyeshadow textures make this palette a winner!

FYI: All the Tom Ford limited edition seasonal eyeshadow palettes have consistently sold out during pre-sale or two days within release in stores AND online. It is an unfortunate situation, but there are just too many die-hard Tom Ford fans out there! I was lucky enough to order from a Neiman Marcus store just as the shipment arrived.

The Nail Lacquer this Fall 2014 is Black Cherry. I rarely wear near-black polishes, but Black Cherry is my "it" color for this season. The formula is exceedingly rich in pigment — much smoother than Tom Ford's standard polishes, and the grape tinge is perfectly executed. I do not own anything like it; Chanel Vendetta is more violet-blue with shimmer and Tom Ford Vamp is more berry-vamp. Black Cherry is two coat perfection. Not quite goth, 100% fashionable.

My Contouring Cheek Color Duo in Softcore arrived damaged. I wanted to share it with you despite its pitiful, shattered state. The issue can be resolved with some rubbing alcohol, but it changes the look and texture of the powder, so I left it untouched for these photos. The mauve-bordeaux blush shade is a bit dramatic for my liking, though it will look absolutely stunning on those with tan to dark skin tones and dramatic chic on fair to light skin tones.

Between Softcore and Stroked, Softcore is definitely more unique to the Tom Ford blush lineup. Light to medium skin tones will find that the Cheek Duo in Stroked is more flattering and easier to wear on the day to day, but a bit of Love Lust mixed with Savage yields a very similar shade. That being said, do not let my general advice discourage you from experimenting and trying something new!

I love the lighter, brighter pink-toned highlighter of Softcore (above right). Stroked (above left) has a warmer, yellow-toned highlighting powder, which will tone down any ruddiness on the cheeks more effectively. Word of caution: Use these highlighters sparingly, as they will enhance pores! I recommend applying them with a fan brush or small stippling brush. I am all for a strong highlight, but I do not want to see my pores from a mile away. It's all about balance!

The reformulated and relaunched Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Liquid Foundation is my current daily foundation. Though it still retains the herbal lavender fragrance as the previous formula, I love this dewy formula that mimics the look of real, bare skin. It is sheerer than its predecessor and feels like a lightweight tinted moisturizer version of Koh Gen Do's Moisture foundation, which has a semi-matte finish. The new packaging is sleek and modern, with frosted plastic and a secure locking mechanism to ensure the foundation will not spill all over the contents of your makeup bag or purse. The Traceless Liquid Foundation can be layered from sheer to light-medium coverage, so I prefer using 3 to 4 pumps for a little more coverage. Do keep in mind the pump dispenses a very small amount, so 2 pumps would be the equivalent to an industry standard 1 pump. I purchased the color 03 Fawn, which is a perfect match for most of my face. My forehead is one full shade darker, so I may purchase a second bottle in 04.

The Correcting Pen is the last of my Fall haul! I ordered the Concealing Pen, but just my luck, there was a mix-up and I received the Correcting version in Light instead. In this dual-ended stick formula, I think I need a shade up. The Correcting Pen, however, is a great alternative to the Cle de Peau concealer for those who prefer using one concealer for the eyes and another for blemishes and/or discoloration. On my normal skin, it feels more drying than Cle de Peau's, so I highly recommend this concealer duo for combination and oily skin!

Last but not least, here is my video review and tutorial! If you read the individual product breakdowns above, please feel free to skip to the second half of the video for the tutorial xo

  2. Hey Rae! Is it crazy that I am bidding for the quad on EBay? I had the opportunity to buy it for its regular price and hesitated and now my bids up to $117.50!

  3. what a beautiful collection! Too bad about the broken blush, can it be exchanged? Seems sad for such an expensive product to arrive in such a state...

  4. Found out from Front Row Beauty that the eyeshadow quad is still available from Harvey Nichols. I purchased it online today, and they are going to help arrange international shipping for me. Not sure what the total cost will be, but $117.50 may not be unreasonable; I'm paying 63 pounds plus international shipping (plus maybe VAT?).
