Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in 04 Espresso Review, Photos, Swatches

For the past six months, I have been loving the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Espresso. Tom Ford believes that the brow is one of the most important elements of the face, so it is no surprise to see that he has created a lovely multitasking eyebrow tool. Since receiving it, I have worn it in countless videos and have raved about it often, so I figured it was due time for a post. This brow product can be found at Neiman Marcus and Bergdof Goodman online for $42, but it is well worth the price tag.
The packaging is lightweight yet sturdy, standard plastic casing with two removable end caps. The spoolie is perfection, just soft enough to blend the color without taking it away. The product is referred to as a "Sculptor" with good reason, for the formula is on the waxier end of the spectrum. If you prefer a very dry or powdery brow formulation, stick to the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil. I adore the slanted 'calligraphy' tip, which allows me to create thin strokes for the tail of my brows and wide, soft strokes for the front of my brows. The Brow Sculptor lasts all day on my normal skin, but I do think it might help to finish off with a dusting of powder for those with oily skin.

Made in Japan

I strictly donned grey brow brows using the likes of the Shiseido Natural Black Pencil or CdP 204 for years. But recently, I started wearing brown to mix things up and also because I had brown partial highlights added to my hair. Some people like it, others do not.. but at the end of the day, as long as your brows are properly arched and filled in, I feel that you can wear whatever brow color you want to wear.

The Brow Sculptor is available in four shades: Blonde, Chestnut, Taupe, Espresso. Chestnut is intended for those with auburn or red tones in their hair.

Both pencils fully extended, each only used 3x

Anastasia BW in Medium (ashy brown), TF in Espresso (dark brown), Cle de Peau in 204 (grey brown)

Espresso always photographs much warmer when swatched or worn. It actually looks more neutral in person, so I highly recommend stopping by a counter and checking them out yourself if possible. The Tom Ford boutique in Beverly Hills finally installed a fully stocked cosmetics counter, so my fellow SoCal residents.. happy swatching!

Bottom Line: I love Espresso so much, I will be purchasing Taupe next.

  1. I think the Brow Sculptor is the best product in the entire Tom Ford collection! Its shape and sharpener are brilliant. I concur that it's worth the money, though I admit that I save it for when I'm on the go or traveling. Taupe works well on my medium complexion - not too dark or light. True to its name, there's no red at all. I'd love to see how it compares to the new Hourglass brow product that sports the same shape. It's about half the price.

    1. I like both for different purposes! Hourglass is creamier, can be built up for heavier coverage

  2. It's a really nice tone of brown. I've never tried Tom Ford cosmetics but it looks like its worth giving a try! Great review =)

  3. can you do a comparison to the hourglass one?
I have TF in Taupe, the Shu uemura in the grey brown color, and also the shiseido in natural blk.. have also tried anastasia brow wiz in medium taupe, and cliniques superfine in soft brown.
they all work great, but my go-to has definitely gotta be shiseido... but i'm also interested in trying the hourglass one...
looks really similiar to Tom Fords..

    1. I've done a comparison before in a video! I still wear the Shiseido a lot. The Hourglass is the best for opacity as it is the creamiest.
