REVIEW: Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss - Imaginaire, 56

The Extrait de Gloss is new for Fall 2010 and they are long-lasting glosses intended to replace the Aqualumieres. As much as I loved the non-tacky texture of the Aqualumiere glosses, their one-hour wear repelled me from repurchasing.

Imaginaire is a Barbie pink of sheer to medium pigmentation that wears for a good four to five hours, even when I have been drinking! I drink a lot of water throughout the day so I prefer a gloss that I do not have to reapply with every sip. There are nearly imperceptible shimmers in the formula but under fluorescent lighting, Imaginaire looks like a typical pink. You can slick it on alone for a beach bum, casual weekend look or layer it over your favorite pink lipstick on a night out for a sexy, glossy pout. [My lippie of choice at the moment is Chanel's Rouge Coco in Chintz]. Imaginaire is not life changing in any way but I love how wearable on a daily basis it is and how easy it is to apply it. I adore the new beveled applicator. It's not as porous as the Glossimer's doe foot and the pointer end allows me to precisely apply the product inside the corners of my mouth.

The packaging is sleek and topped with gold. It's quite weighty, in the same way that Rouge Allure Laques are, but it's not nearly as heavy as a Rouge G lipstick. It attracts fingerprints but what can you expect from black glass? I do recommend that you handle the lipgloss carefully as the first one I purchased was damaged near the gold top. There was a sizable chunk broken off from the rest of the cap's back glass. I think it may have been dropped during transportation to the store as it was a brand new, straight out of the drawer product but the Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas was quick to exchange my chipped good for a new one so it wasn't too much of a bother.

I was impressed by the varied color range, even though Chanel has only produced 13 colors thus far, and will definitely purchase more in the future. They're not my #1 must-haves because I am the queen of shimmery glosses but what can I say? Chanel, you have done it again!

Bottom line: It's a well-constructed and well-designed product. If you prefer long-lasting glosses without shimmers [a la YSL Gloss Pur], then you're going to love these new Extrait de Glosses!

  1. I'm so glad you did a review on this gloss! I have it in #57 Insolence and I love it. Although it isn't a pigmented as MAC's Loud and Lovely, I love it a lot more. Chanel can do no wrong in my eyes. Another great post from you.

  9. Julie - That just depends, of course! You need to see a reputable surgeon :) The only thing I know about rhinoplasty is that the procedure is more expensive than blepharoplasty. I, however, honestly don't believe you have to leave the States. Doctors who have graduated from medical schools in the States have had much better training than the doctors overseas! Good luck ^_~
