NY Fashion Week F/W 2015 Photo Diary

As many of you may have noticed, I braved the intimidating New York winter to attend Fashion Week! I was fortunate enough to attend a few shows and even pop backstage as well, so please do take a look at some of the beautiful moments captured after the jump!

New York might have hit frigid temperatures outdoors, but the backstage scene was the complete opposite. I was worked up a sweat trying to capture my favorite moments during the models' prep! As much as I love sitting and enjoying a show, there's nothing better than the hot lights and constant shuffling about behind the scenes — makes for perfect photography!

Christian Louboutin Beauté was in charge of the nails at Cushnie et Ochs, and Madeline Poole created a minimal yet whimsical graphic design. The adhesive studs above were painted with the turquoise Ni Toi Ni Moi (or Wherever, a vibrant navy) and the sheer nude base used was Sweet Charity (two coats).

Moroccanoil artists created the hair look for the Cushnie et Ochs show, and I was thoroughly impressed! It helps to have great bone structure and clear skin like the models, but any woman can pull off this look. The undone curls were my favorite. I watched as the hair stylists gently pulled 1 inch sections of hair through a curling iron and teased the ends for a hint of the 'lived in' look. Since I recently cut off a few inches, these curls are a lot easier for me to style on my own! I used my T3 Twirl 360 curling iron to recreate the look, and the 1.25 inch barrel was the perfect size for my hair length, similar to the model's above.

Now inside the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tent is where a lot of the fun happens! Not only do people meet and mingle (and escape the intense wind), sponsors of Fashion Week host booths where attendees can snap pictures and enjoy complimentary services. My favorite skin care brand SK-II was offering Magic Ring consultations! Ever since I experienced a severe bout of cystic acne from waxing that left my skin scarred, I have been getting regular Magic Ring tests to track my skin's recovery. It helps me refocus and make adjustments where my skin care regimen needs more work! With all the traveling lately, my skin has been extra dehydrated so I know I have to work on firmness by using masks 3x a week and drinking more water.

As hectic as my work schedule was, I still got to visit some of my favorite spots like FAO Schwarz, Times Square and Luke's Lobster (twice). It can be difficult to juggle projects and meetings while traveling, but I am finally learning how to stress less, enjoy myself and make time to see friends as well! It's part of the 'growing up' process, I suppose. I fondly recall when I used to be so anxious that I could not sleep for a few days prior to a big trip! Now I work all night and pack a couple hours before I leave for the airport.

I had never stayed at the Hudson Hotel before, but it was quite nice. I highly recommend visiting it just to check out the gorgeous chandelier in the lobby! Our rooms came with a square lighted vanity mirror that functioned like a ring light, so makeup application was made easier in the cozy little bathroom. Here I am wearing Velour Lashes and applying my favorite new SUQQU Brow Pencil.

Now for a little hair chat! I have been toying with the idea of a popular "long bob" for several months but wasn't sure if I was willing to commit. My hair stylist Guy Tang gave me side-swept bangs and lots of layers for extra volume instead. My hair feels and looks healthier, and I absolutely love the cut! It looks so pretty when curled. When my hair was longer, I was obsessed with the 1.75" T3 Micro Bodywaver, but I'm loving the T3 Twirl 360 these days. The smaller barrel and clip length is perfect for my shorter layers, and the rotating feature is especially useful on mornings when I'm so sleepy I can barely stand. The results are long-lasting (at least two days), and I love that the lower heat settings do not damage my hair. Definitely give these tools a try. I know curling rods are all the rage these days, but the traditional, old-school girl in me still favors curling irons!
