I've recently made the transition to straight brows! Many of you have left comments on YouTube and Instagram telling me how much you love the change, so I filmed a tutorial to show you how I've flattened my arch to mimic the signature K-beauty look.
My eyebrows are naturally faint and sparse and grow very slowly, so creating a straight shape is still an ordeal. Luckily, the Wayne Goss Brow Set and Shu Uemura's iconic eyebrow makeup makes the transformation possible! More tips and tricks after the jump!
I am so incredibly excited to share this Favorites episode with you because I have some big news. Starting tomorrow, my blog and youtube will be dedicated to ASIA WEEK! I will post daily content (yes, for an entire week) dedicated to best of Japanese and Korean beauty. Stay tuned!!
And although I've rekindled my relationship with primers and have discovered a new "hair bestie" aka the best curling iron set-up, I did run into 2 powder compacts that really failed to impress me. I also reveal top Korean makeup artists' secret to beautifully groomed brows.. Please watch the video below to hear about the best and the worst of September Beauty!
Summer is coming to an end in many places in America as well as the rest of the world, but Southern California is warmer than ever. We have been hit by a major heat wave, so it is perfect timing for this sweat-proof makeup tutorial! Many of you loved the natural looks I wore in my Tokyo travel vlog, so I partnered up with Clinique you bring you a more accessible, affordable — and even easier — take on the makeup. I hope you enjoy the video!
In ultra humid and hot conditions like Tokyo and SoCal summers, I highly recommend keeping it light. I didn't pack all that much makeup because experience has taught me that wearing and layering too much would end up in a melted, splotchy mess. Start with a great sweat-proof foundation, like RMK's Creamy Gel or SK-II's Facial Treatment Cream Foundations (both Asia exclusives), and set with a loose powder or powder foundation depending on your coverage needs! Less is more in warm weather! I like to focus on my T-zone and keep it very sheer everywhere else.
Use highlighters strategically to keep the complexion glowing since maintaining a super matte, flat foundation finish is unrealistic. Don't fight the climate! Instead, mimic it while controlling it. When necessary, I will blot my nose with TATCHA's Beauty Papers and then touch up my forehead, smile lines, and chin with SUQQU's Pore Covering Powder. Stick to a glossy lipstick or a tinted balm for the complete laid back summer-lovin' effect!
After five years of content creation, I finally present my very first video collaboration! My friend Amelia and I decided to film reviews dedicated to our current lineup of luxury must-haves. I hope you will enjoy the change of pace with my most lust-worthy makeup, skin care, and fashion favorites of the moment. Since I have been traveling more, this episode will feature more skin care than makeup. This list does change frequently, but if you're looking to splurge, any of the products below are worth the investment! xo
Since its launch in 2010, Burberry has become one of my favorite designer beauty brands. All the products are beautifully packaged in gunmetal trench patterns and reflect the house's longstanding tradition of glowing skin and flattering color. This beauty lineup will feature my top eight picks that I recommend you try first from this outstanding brand!
Giorgio Armani makes some of the best designer makeup that money can buy. So despite the fact that Holiday collections (including Armani's) are rolling out in full force, I wanted to share the beauty of the Fall 2014 Fade to Grey collection. Furthermore, I wanted to demonstrate that the new Eye & Brow Maestro can be used on both naturally full and incredibly spare, thin brows like mine!
Now, some of you may have noticed that I did not include the nail polishes or the liquid eyeliners in the video (due to time constraints). Armani's standard formula is super glossy, but these Fall 2014 nail polish shades actually have a matte finish. I loved how effortless the application of the formula was — ultra smooth and self leveling. The color lasted a few days without chipping, which is fairly impressive for matte nails. The mineral tones of the Fall 2014 Eyes to Kill liquid eyeliners provide a "no-makeup" makeup feel due to the subtlety of the colors. The color is long-lasting and semi-transparent with a gel texture that is perfect for everyday wear.
Charlotte Tilbury is my favorite new beauty launch this year! Her makeup beats Gucci's by a long shot (first impressions review here), so I apologize for not being able to share this compilation sooner. I was waiting on some additional products to arrive and figured it was worth the wait to share as many shade variations as possible. Check out the individual product reviews and swatches after the jump!
This Spring 2014 season, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty is introducing their first brow tool: Shaping Eyebrow Pencil($45 USD). Conceived to create a tailor-made shape that enhances the wearer's natural look, this brow liner offers dual functionality with thick and thin aspects of the soft tear-shaped tip. Check out the complete details and comparison swatches after the jump!
February was such a busy month, and March will only be more hectic! I had to whittle this video down and leave out some skin care products, but I will be sure to cover them individually here on the blog later this month. Instead, I chose to discuss some of the hottest new makeup releases from Smashbox and NARS here in this episode, as well as the Hakuhodo face brushes I have been enjoying for the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy the video! xo
Benefit has always been one of the leading brow authorities, so I was honored when they offered me a complimentary makeover with brow mapping. I discovered at the session that brow tinting is all the rage these days and how natural and gentle it can be! More importantly, I learned how to use the new Gimme Brow volumizing gel, which has since changed my stance on how I fill in my eyebrows. I love using it on the weekend for a very natural but full eyebrow that is water-resistant (perfect for tropical vacations). Since I loved the products so much, I decided to recreate the look the Benefit girls gave me with the same set of products they used. I hope you enjoy the tutorial!
